Owners Linda & Joel Chamaschuk
Chain Reaction Winery
Chain Reaction is a small, family run operation where the owners are involved in every aspect of the operation from managing the vineyards, making the wine, working in the tasting room, marketing, and label design. Their production will always be small because they want to continue a hands-on approach. Owners, Linda and Joel, like to think that their passion for wine, cycling, and the Okanagan lifestyle will shine through each bottle of wine. They openly welcome all wine lovers to their tasting room to learn, taste, and have fun while enjoying the beautiful view of Okanagan Lake and the surrounding areas.
Get to Know Us
Linda and Joel met in the early 1990’s and have always vacationed in the Okanagan every summer. This is where they first discovered wine, and since then have been huge BC Wine advocates. More recently, they began visiting the South Okanagan for cycling and triathlon events, which gave them a chance to explore the wineries in these areas and fall even more in love with the Okanagan.
In 2017, after having worked several decades in the technology sector in Vancouver, they wanted something new and different from their lives. From the moment they set their eyes on our Naramata Bench property, we fell in love. Originally an orchard with amazing views of Okanagan Lake, their property is only two blocks from the KVR and a block away from Naramata Road, two of their favourite running and cycling routs. In early 2018, they moved from Vancouver to pursue our dream of starting a vineyard and opening a winery. Joel enrolled in the viticulture program at Okanagan College, and then got right to work removing the orchard and preparing the land before planting our first vineyard in spring 2019. It has been a challenge, tremendous amount of work and a huge learning experience ever since!
Our Approach
In consideration of the climate, they’ve opted to predominantly cultivate Burgundian grape varietals, drawing from their established success on the Naramata Bench. Though the soil diverges from that of Burgundy, it promises to yield wines distinctively characteristic of the Naramata Bench. Building on the triumph of their inaugural harvest in 2021, they remain committed to crafting small-batch wines with a hands-on approach.
