Owners Scott and Nicole Breier
Abandoned Rail Brewing Co.
Family owned and operated by Nicole and Scott Breier, they opened their doors in March 2022. Located alongside the well traveled Kettle Valley Rail trail on the beautiful Naramata Bench, they are one of just a handful of farm breweries in the province. The inspiration for the brewery was to create an all-inclusive space where everyone can relax and feel comfortable while enjoying their European inspired beer with friends, family and pets!
Get to Know Us
Scott and Nicole Breier, owners, and entrepreneurs, acquired the seven-acre property in 2018. Teaming up with brewmaster and longtime friend Peter Schulz, they transformed the once “The Trail Store” into what is now known as Abandoned Rail. The name, a tribute to the area’s former railroad route, reflects their commitment to honoring local history. Despite being situated in wine country, they’ve dedicated five acres of the property to cultivating barley, a key ingredient in their craft beers. Since opening their doors on March 26th, 2022, they’ve quickly become a beloved community hotspot, attracting both locals and tourists alike.
Our Approach
Their brewmaster, Peter Schulz, trained in Germany for 5 years and is a certified brewmaster by the German government. With such a passion and exposure to German style beer, Peter, along with owners Scott and Nicole, decided they wanted to create beers with a more European influence. Since they opened, they have won gold medals in Canada for their Tunnel Vision Euro IPA and Bellhop Porter. They have also won gold and silver for their Marzen Bavarian Lager in BC.
