Eat, Stay, Explore

“Where are we going to eat?”

The eternal question of mankind!

And when you are wine tasting on the Naramata Bench that question has some delicious answers.

Picnic Anyone?

Take one beautiful day, add your favorite person(s), sprinkle a dash of scenery and stir in simple delicious food – perfection picnic! Pick up sandwiches and fixings at the Deli in the Naramata General store, local gourmet cheese from Upper Bench Winery & Creamery, and ripe Naramata grown fruits at the fruit stands on the bench – or bring your own basket of goodies.

Check our list of wineries for those where you can buy a bottle of wine to enjoy with your picnic in their licensed picnic areas. There are beaches and parks on the Bench as well those welcome picnickers.

Bored? Never!

With the lake below us and the rolling mountains of the Southern Okanagan above us, Naramata Bench is a natural playground with breathtaking views and discoveries around every corner.

Biking, Walking, Hiking

The Naramata Bench is home to one of the most beautiful stretches of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail hiking and biking trail. This single lane wide and well-groomed trail is the road-bed of the former Kettle Valley Railway and runs the entire length of the Naramata Bench paralleling the road but higher on the mountain.

For cyclists and walkers it affords beautiful views and a wonderful chance to commune with nature. There are many access points and several of our wineries are adjacent to the trail making for a unique walking/biking and wine tasting experience.

Hikers will enjoy the myriad of trails that branch off the Kettle Valley trail up into the mountains as will mountain bike riders with many trails built and dedicated to riding.

Road bikers will love the rolling rhythm of the Naramata Road and many choose to do their wine touring by bike.

And if you just want to go for a walk enjoy the quiet streets around the town centre that are tree-lined with lake views, or the meandering Old Main Road that leads you to the cool courtyard of Elephant Island Orchard Wines.

Water Sports

There are several public boat launches along the Naramata Bench and its undulating coastline with small protected bays make for delightful kayaking and boating.
